in Credit cards
Hi guys
My girlfriend has just got an access to credit report form creditexpert. I'm bit concerned because there are two CIFAS entries on her file. It's showing on our previous address, it's not in my girlfriends name and mine either.
both of them are in woman's strange Indian name and recorded by capital one, it says
and the second one:
What i don't know if it affects my girlfriend directly? And if we should contact capital one to clarify that?
Just wanted to add that my girlfriend or me have never been involved in any sort of ID theft or fraud.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks martin

Product type: Personal Credit Card
Type of case: False Identity Fraud - Use of a false name with an address.
Reason for entry: Refer to CIFAS member
and the second one:
Product type: Personal Credit Card
Type of case: Victim of Impersonation - Use, by another person, of this name and/or address.
Reason for entry: Refer to CIFAS member

Hi mrtn
Nothing to worry about - you do not need to speak/contact Capital One as the issue is nothing to do with you or your girlfriend- the name quoted on the report is for a third party person(s) - under the data protection act you cannot discuss something in anyone elses name. You may however experience a slight delay in the processing of any application for credit in your names - all that will be happening in the delay is that the credit grantor needs to check whether the cifas entry relates to one of you - if it does not then the grantor will continue with your application in the normal manner and you will be subject to their routine credit scoring etc.
