kids adidas trainers-how long should they last?

i bought my 7 year old adidas astroturf shoes at the very end of April this year, i noticed that the black sole is now coming away from the front of one of the shoes making his foot wet? he has worn them often but not daily since he has other shoes.
Should i expect more than 3 and 1/2 months of occasional wear from them??
they were bought from sports direct, i still have my proof of purchase and the box. i am happy to take a new pair or a credit note but i read in another thread sports direct may decide to keep the shoes for 2 or 3 weeks to get them inspected.
i just wondered if it worth taking them back or will i just be told that 3 and 1/2 months is reasonable time for them to last.

6 months regular wear would be expected! 3.5 months of occasional wear is rubbish!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Mm, reminds me about my son when he was that age- wearing out the knees of his trousers by skidding on the floor, think they lasted weeks.0

I'd expect 6 months for utility school shoes, but cheap trainers may count as fashion shoes and have a lower expectation. Sports direct aren't known for their returns policies, so it may be an uphill fight jfyi0

Hi WildTiger,
You say they are astroturf shoes which means they are designed as a sports shoe, basically for playing indoor (or outdoor) football on an astroturf pitch. On that basis you wouldn't expect them to be used for that purpose more than a couple of times a week for a couple of hours at a time at most. You don't make it clear if that's how they've been worn or if they've been used just as general trainers for every day wear and play (which is not what they are designed for).
If they've been used only for the purpose for which they were designed you may have a case. If they've been used as general footwear on all surfaces for long periods (all day) I think you may have a problem suggesting the footwear is at fault. When I played indoor football my astroturf boots would last at least a season maybe longer, I might use them on grass too but I wouldn't have expected them to last as long if I used them for general wear on concrete etc.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
Would a pair of ballet shoes last longer than a week if being worn as normal shoes.
As I have said before Startrite give 3 months warranty unless they are shown to be faulty. As the responder above suggests astroturf shoes were not designed for daily wear and everyday road surfaces.0 -

The OP doesn't actually say they wore them on the road etc...
They said:he has worn them often but not daily since he has other shoes
which I interpreted as him playing sports in them on a regular basis, but wearing other shoes for everything else.
I had adidas astroturf shoes at uni, and they lasted 4 years! If he did wear them on the road, you wouldn't expect the sole to peel away. It would just make them wear down quicker.
Adidas are generally quite well made.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

thanks for all your help and advice
i might as well take them back and see what they say about them, i'm happy for a swop as they still sell them in the shop, if they say no then i'll attack them with glue, the shoes that is not sports directwouldn't it be nice if i won : car/cash/family holiday

The fashion is for bespoke sports shoes and gym and indoor shoes.
They are not even designed to be worn outside.
Put your foot down and end the designer shoe craze or get ready to be held ransom every few weeks when they drop to bits.
Buy sensible outdoor shoes and save moneyBe happy...;)0
