Orange stuff leaking from fridge-freezer?

My mum defrosted her fridge-freezer yesterday and switched it back on last night. Today she found that the middle drawer was "stuck" and she noticed that there was an orange-coloured liquid that had leaked out from the unit. She is adamant that it is not a foodstuff, icelolly, frozen drink etc, she did taste it (!!) and said that it is sweet. She said that she noticed that there is an orange stain on the flooring behind/underneath the freezer, this sounds like a leak of some kind to me?
Is it repairable or is she looking at a new freezer? It is quite old so we are prepared for the worst!
