Argos asking for Independant report...

Hello,

Hope someone can provide me with some information on how to resolve this issue. I purchased a tent from Argos approx 18 months ago. Due to bad weather etc we actually didn't use it untill this year. On only the second time of using (approx 4 days of use in total) the toggles inside the tent, which hold the inner living area to the outer skin, came apart. I emailed Argos, whom stated as it was outside of 12 months, there was nothing that could be done, and I should contact Regatta (they had already stated they dont make these tents from Argos, they just provide the Name, they are made by Argos themselves.) I explained the tent wasn't fit for use, regardless of time passed (I would expect more use than 4 days before somesort of failure!) They have said I should get an independent inspection done, and if they agree with it, they will reinburse me. I have to admit, with 2 children, work etc, I simply dont have the time to do this, and wouldnt know where to start anyway! Any advice would be welcome.

As it's over 6 months old you need to get an independent report. No way round this.

The report will show it was not caused by neglect but inherently faulty.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • For something such as this, they might accept a report from somewhere like a tailors or habadashery/craft shop.
Even though they won't be tent specialists, they may be willing to examine the fault and see if they think it was down to poor stitching or dodgy fabric.
