Anyway to set a minimum date for a supplier change?
Im in a fixed length electric contract at the moment which is ending in 6 weeks and has a £30 penalty for leaving early. I'm keen to sign up to a new fixed price contract as soon as possible as rates are going up again. Is there any way to sign up with a new supplier and specify when the contract mustn't start before ?

The simple answer is no ! You have no say when the switch happens and quite often the gas and electricity switches take place on separate days.
From experience I would not initiate a switch until about 15days before your current contract expires.
My fastest switch was 21 days but some have taken up to 8 weeks.0 -
You can't specify a date. Typically a switch takes 3-4 weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
