car crash

On the way home from work tonight someone crashed into my husband. He (stupidly) just had a quick look and thought it looked okay so just said it was okay to the guy and they both carried on. When he told me when he got home I can see a mark on the bumper and it looks like its bent it a bit. It was a company van that crashed into him so we can get the company details. Is there any hope to get this covered by their insurance or is it tough luck now?! thanks

Bad move to drive off without assessing the damage, exchanging details and if possible getting any witness names.
The other driver should report the accident to his firm but his version may be totally different to your husbands and its going to be his word against your hubbies.
Best thing is to contact the firm asap and explain what happened and find out did he report it.Hope things work out for you in this case but I have heard of cases similar where little damage done and both drivers leave apparently happy only for the innocent party to receive a letter a few days later from Lawyers 4U claiming their client had been hit and seeking damages including the ubiquitous "whiplash".

Almost exactly what happened to the wife of a member of my bowls club. Apparently she backed into a car at very low speed while leaving a car park.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

For a scratch i'd question whether it's worth seeing your premiums potentially going up having to declare an accident

I'd advocate reporting it to your insurer. If they find out later that you've suffered a 'loss' (note loss means incident -not necessarily claim) then they could cause you problems if you have an accident at some later stage.

Generally, insurers will be quite reasonable if they are told somethingby their policyholder, but can be quite unreasonable if they find out by some other means.
