Paid off my £1600 overdraft and closed the account after almost 5 years of maxing it out every month as a student. Never again am I having an overdraft facility on my account.

Only one debt to go until debt free! :)

I've just paid off a Barclays card - £391 and £1500 to another £3000 credit card debt. Since January, I've destroyed the £1500 overdraft (we are clear this month for the first time in a decade) and £2000 on the Barclay card. Down to just three cards now and a private loan to family to clear. At this rate, we should be all clear next year.
Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

  • I retired last year, took a cash lump sum, paid off bank loan all other loans, bought a reasonable car, still have small income from private pension + state pension, think I got it right, still able to have the odd day out and continue with my hobbies

Just found this thread.....wanted to say well done everyone!

I decided at xmas that I would clear all of my unsecured debts this year...so.....

    25th Jan - repaid my catalogue £195

25th Feb -repaid my £500 overdraft and the last payment came out for a £3000 loan with Lloyds

    25th March - repaid £1900 credit card

Have three loans left, one with Natwest £1300, one with Barclays £2800, and last one with NRAM £1250.
