Get a brass bell
nicer sounding and the ring last longer
you can sound the bell from much further back and the long sound gives peds more time and an idea where its coming from

or on my commuter I have an EBC brass

On my commuter/winter I have an Airzound.
Nothing quite like it, 115db, recharge with a foot pump, louder than a car horn, use it wisely, but do use it.0 -

Exercise caution if using this technique when leaving Downing Street.0 -

See I thought about one of those, but read about them falling apart, so in the end I took this guys approach:

And fitted an actual car horn (around 120db) fed from a small 12v battery (but big enough for around 5 minutes of use), if sound pressure doubles with every 3db, you can sort of image how loud 120 is over 115, without the engine bay of a car to muffle it.....
I haven't had anyone honking at me since I fitted it, but I hope the next one has the passenger window open :rotfl:“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

On my bike, I do get a bit peeved by people walking in the cycle lane side of a pavement.
Equally, I get peeved by those cycling on a pavement which is not meant for bikes (and if I see one I purposefully walk to block as much pavement as I can to get the cyclist onto the road where they belong (unless it's a young child).
Also equally, I get peeved when I'm driving and see people cycling on a busy road when there's a good quality cycle path right there next to them!
I walk/drive/cycle in equal measures and I'm pro people being where they belong depending on the transportation they use.0 -

Who are you to decide where I belong? If I'm legally riding on the road, or walking in a cycling lane, or cycling on the pavement with a young child? Do you get annoyed with drivers using certain roads when there are other perfectly good roads nearby?
I'm pro behaving like a sensible person, not being aggressive to others and recognising the person not the mode of transport. Maybe you should try it...It's only numbers.1 -

Was the cycle path actually of good quality thou ?
Cyclists are perfectly entitled to be on the roads, and they dont have to stick to cycle paths. althou its suggested not to use cycle paths if traveling at a certain speed. Ie, above 20mph, you should be riding on the road
I've had a driver have a go at me for not using a perfectly good cycle path despite it not being usable at all.
It was actually closed off so there was no access to it, and the surface had been dug up with cranes and diggers blocking it, hardly a good cycle path to use, but he was convinced it was decent.0 -

I couldn't stop you from hogging the middle lane on the motorway... but that's considered careless driving these days (because it never was before today, obviously)...
If people want to use 50mph dual carriageways for cycling instead of a cycle path alongside then they can be my guest. It's their risk imo.
Oh and I said a bit peeved, not downright angry and willing to take a swipe at anyone who I believe is in the wrong. It's not all about me and what I think.0 -

Indeed. In fact, our local cycling policy states quite outright that cycle paths are for children and old ladies and that any cyclists travelling at speed should use the road - hence the reduced speed limits.
I get so many people honk / swerve at me for cycling on the road (where I'm supposed to be) - the cycle lanes really are worse than useless in my case, they're actively dangerous.1
