Travelling to the USA so decided to apply for Halifax Clarity Credit Card. Applied, was rejected, so sent letter requesting reasons for refusal. Received letter in return offering a card with £3,500 limit and still no reason why I was rejected in the first instance. Friends have had very similar experiences. Refusal at first but offered upon requesting a list of reasons.

perhaps you were automatically flunked by the computer, and when you sent a letter, an underwriter reviewed your circumstances and decided you were eligible?Oh, you wee bazza!0
