Corsa squealing noise

My 2004 VAUXHALL CORSA 1.3 CDTi Life 5dr Diesel has been making an intermittent squealing noise for last 6 months or so.
Just passed its MOT but noise driving me nuts so took to the garage where they suspected fan belt so changed this.
£35 lighter and still making this noise, so any ideas what this might be before i start throwing money at it? :mad:

Water pump would be my guess, happened on my daughters last car and eventually it seized, breaking the auxillary belt as well.

Squealing or squeaking?. In my experience belts squeal when the engine accelerates, pumps squeak at idle.

without knowing more hard to say, but I would guess water pump too. I've had that on my car, it was so loud and annoying it had to be replaced!

its definately a high pitched squeal. Not a squeak. Drove round to garage last night so the mechanic could hear it, wouldnt you know it, it stopped just before I got there!

I hazard a guess that you normally do short journeys? and it only "squeals" during your normal driving distance?

It doesn't make the noise every time its driven.
I done a 300 mile round trip recently and don't remember it making any noise on the motorway, but on a 40 mile round trip it was making a racket
I was hoping to sell it to be honest but not much chance of that until i get this sorted

No it happens engine is idling at the lights too. Someone mentioned something about a belt tensioner to me recently so could be that
