Miele ct and dog vacuum

Should read Cat and Dog vacuum!
Purchased one of these in April this year. It's broken down twice now. Been back to their workshop for first repair and is now waiting to be boxed up for another! Two different faults each time, so far....
In between I've flaffed around with new filters, replacing expensive bags that aren't full but machine say they are etc, because the machine wasn't functioning properly, but at least it functioned.
As I said its totally died on me now and is waiting for repair, again!
Meantime no vacuum! It cost about £250 in April.
Miele insist I'm not entitled to a refund, only a repair.
I've explained that I'm a very unhappy consumer, and would like a refund so I can buy another machine that isn't in for repair every few weeks. To me, this machine simply isn't fit for purpose.
Do I have any other options on how to resolve this matter?

did you buy it from Miele? If not you need to talk to the retailer, not the manufacturer.
Your rights state that any remedy (via the retailer) must not cause you 'significant inconvenience'. If constant repairs cause this you need to let them know, and give them the choice of giving a refund or a replacement. If they fail, youll have to buy one elsewhere and pursue the retailer for the refund.0 -

Once you have 'accepted' the goods as defined by the Sale of Goods Acts (which happens after you have had a reasonable time to inspect) then you lose your automatic right for a full refund. You instead have a right to a refund (possibly partial to take account of usage), repair or replacement. You can ask for any of these options that you want, but the retailer is allowed to refuse if one of the other options would work out cheaper. I imagine a repair or replacement is usually going to cost less than a refund.
They aren't allowed to unreasonably inconvenience you though. If you aren't getting any use out of this machine there may be an argument that it should be replaced instead of repaired.
Incidentally, that's the vaccum cleaner that I have. What exactly is wrong with it? I have noticed that it sometimes reports that the airflow is restricted (the little orange tab thing), and that normally happens when I'm using the small round brush attachment. I think the bristles on that restrict the airflow.
Edit: Oops, I should have read your post more carefully. As ThumbRemote says, Miele don't owe you anything other than whatever is defined in the warranty unless you bought directly from them. Your rights are with the retailer that sold you it.0 -
So if I take it back to the shop, explain the whole sorry saga to the retailer, they will let me either replace with a different vacuum or refund my money?
They won't say talk to Miele?0 -

Well we don't know what they'll say until you speak to them, but legally Miele aren't responsible to you for the performance of the vacuum as you don't have a contract with them.
Explain to the retailer that it has broken several times and the constant repairs and poor performance are causing you inconvenience and you want a replacement or refund instead.0
