Cost us just under £3k (maybe £2,850 or something) to have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar installed earlier this year. That included supply and installation of the new boiler, it had to resited slightly, and a new flue added. They also took out the old hot water tank and another one in the loft. They flushed out the radiatiors, but as they all already had TRVs, nothing else was done to them. Wireless thermostat also installed. Seven-year warranty for the boiler, parts and labour.
    We're in south east London.

Much the same installation here a couple of months ago, although my boiler was relocated to the loft and the rads weren't flushed as they'd been done recently. £2364 in all, very pleased with the job.

The only snag I've had is getting used to the hot taps now being mains pressure - the number of times I've whacked the tap on the amount of turns I was used to doing and ended up wearing most of the water

No real idea how it's affected my gas consumption, that'll take a bit longer to get a meaningful idea - like after next winter. I do know that it would increase the water consumption though, waiting for hot water to come through. For a sinkful I generally just boil the kettle and add cold to suit.

I would recommend Vaillant in preference to Worcester; superior build quality.
Depending on model, difficulty of pipe runs, etc I would say £2000 - £2500 fitted.

With a combi boiler you HAVE to re-pressurise the system occasionally ... it's not optional because if you don't it stops working

with most combis it's a very trivial operations... turn two little taps and it's done.

with the worcester it requires some strength and it awkward to access
I would guess that the average women or older person wouldn't be able to manage

If you get it wrong you flood the floor

so that's how I recognise a bad design.

Thanks for that - i didn't know you had to do this. Presumably this is a once-a-year that would be carried out during a service?

I paid around £1,750 for a Vaillant boiler, removal of water tank and fitting, etc in 2007 when I was in Highams Park (E4). Didn't need much moving in the way of pipes, etc, but he did have to put something through the outside wall.
