There isn't, but if you're were to opt out of anything, before the comp even closed, You might as well not enter in the first place,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,0 -
No, there's no need to opt out. The independent ask you (occasionally) to opt in to their readers panel. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

Here's mine
An echelon of estate agents
A brood of actors
A satchel of football managers
A chain of MP's
A pinch of TV chefs
A barrier of lawyers
A dustbowl of standup comedians
A spitting of fourbyfour drivers
A complete volume of limited edition journalists

Aren't competition organisers legally obliged to let you enter their comps, even if you don't want to partake of their product (NPN entries etc.)?0 -

Not any more. NPN entries are no longer compulsory, as of about six months ago, although most promoters still allow them. Similarly if opting in to mailings is a condition of the comp, that's OK too as long as they make it clear when you enter.
BTW forgive me if I'm jumping up and down while I type, but I've just had a phone call from Fanta to say I've won a DS Lite - with a NPN entry! How sweet it is to do nothing..... and then rest afterwards.0 -
Ah ok, thanks, that's useful to know. Shame about the law-change - wonder why it was changed?
Many congratulations on the DS Lite!0 -

It's all to do with the European Union (isn't everything?) - the definitions of gambling have been changed and a new Gambling Act came in which covers comps as well. Supposedly it's brought us into line with the rest of Europe. How sweet it is to do nothing..... and then rest afterwards.0 -

Forgetting the legal side, I think manners etc come into it also.
Most competitions are run by companys to promote some kind of service or other and it's a way of bringing it to the publics attention. Often these companys are small concerns, one office, just a few staff.
Now if it was your company would you give a prize to someone who had ticked a disclaimer to say please don't bother me with your service, but I would though like the prize you're offering,,,,,,,,,,,0 -
This is an excellent comp.
Sorry to break th flow of discussion but I couldn't resist adding in mine!
