Is it just me or is anyone else having the worst year ever for leaf miners and other leaf chomping insects???

I have never known it so bad, the only area escaping damage is the conservatory and greenhouse.

Firstly it was any plants with spear like leaves, Crocmosia, Gladiolas, irises even, but then potatoes and beans, even toughies like aubretia an polyanthus etc I'ts not slug damage

More or less anything I don't spray is being devoured.
I think it's more than 1 bug at work, leaf miners are pretty obvious by the damage done, but I can find what doing the rest.

Now if that isn't bad enough something even worse is devouring every thing that isn't bomb proof in my pond, 3 waterlilies have been devoured completely, they have stripped the leaves down to the veins. It is a true aquatic pest as now the lilies have gone, they have stated on the irises, the damage being confined to below the water level, complete leaves are being cut of at water level. And of course you can't spray a living pond.

Never ever had such a year.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I haven't noticed an increase in pest activity in my garden this year. The leaves of my crocosmia are looking ropey but they do every year, I always find them a disappointment their only saving grace is that they flower in late August/September.

Mine don't look ropey, they look healthy, just seems like a laser guided leaf borer is cutting out all the soft stuff.
