Ebay - book possibly a remainder

Bought book from ebay, recieved book quickly, nice seller, with 100% positive over 1000 FBs

But book has a razorblade cut deep into the spine which looks suspiciously like a remainder mark. Not mentioned in listing, described as "excellent, as-new condition throughout".

It didn't cost much (£3.50), in fact it was cheap if the cut was not there.

The seller has a moneyback guarantee but that will still cost me postage, and I think I might aswell keep it anyway.

It's so frustrating when a seller does not describe an item accurately. I think I will give a green light and mark down on item as described what do you think?

BTW This will teach me to read everything in a listing. I thought this book would be normal sized, but the listing gives it's dimensions fairly accurately, I did not take note, I just saw 5 sellers on Amazon marketplace all selling this tiny pocket book (which I did not know at the time was a pocket book) for above £20 some of them £30 - £50 A rip off! I assumed it was going to be a good buy at upto £10 - Boy was I wrong!

Don't judge a book by its description! :D

Seriously though, if that's the going price for the book (which it seems to be, from the info you give) why is it suddenly more of a rip off because of its size?

If a used book is being sold (even if 'as new') for over £20 then the size is probably not the price-affecting factor. Must be some kind of collectability, I would guess.

Doubt it is a remainder mark. Cant see any company taking the time to use a knife in that way, when all they have to do is, run a marker pen along page edges, or use a dye.

Try and ask for a partial refund.

Well I don't see how it can be worth that much when the first editions on Abe are all selling for mostly under £10 with a few for £14.......all sellers are in USA

Granted no-one on abe are selling this particular 2nd edition paperback which has 135 pg compared to the 1st ed which had 109 pg.

So it appears the little 2nd edition paperback is a rare find, but I personally wouldn't value it at more than £5 but then I'm not a book collector.

SHould I give seller a ticking off by email?
