Because you, your passengers, your car and the people on the ground under it aren't quite as vulnerable to the evil deeds of ne'er-do-wells as an aeroplane.
Thanks - Oh been around blackpool and cheddar in a helicopter. Been on a pleasure aeroplane flight from Caernarfon across snowdonia twice . No I.D not even a "whats you name mate" Would expect them there planes if crashed into my tent may pull my pegs out a tad.

  • Don't get panic. According to law you need to bring their passport photo or if you do have their birth certificate then that would be very okay. A domestic flight don't need passports.

BA do not ask for any ID whatsoever on domestic flights, or even flights to Jersey. Unfortunately they don't fly anywhere from Birmingham where Flybe seems to be the only option to Scotland, fares can be as low as £60 return but you need to read the website to see what ID they want

I once travelled from London back to Scotland after having stayed in London for a couple of nights after a trip to Italy. I did not notice until I arrived at the airport that I had left my passport in the hotel in central London. Straight off panic stations, however having went to the customer service desk I was advised that since it was a domestic flight I did not need a passport, I had no other form of identification with me except for my credit/debit cards and I had no problems at all. Very kindly the hotel posted my passport back to me.

According to their website, which I've quoted in my previous post, you need to have photo-id if you are checking in luggage

By British law you need photo ID, not easy for 5 and 2 year olds. Unfortunately some airlines have their own rules and insist on a passport for domestic flights, I have had a friend refused travel for this by Ryanair. This might add a fair bit of cost to your trip but it would avoid disappointment if you did have passports.

    No: not a legal requirement.

If you were to go with flybe, above are the requirements, adults require photo ID, children do not as long as they are with an adult with proper ID.

(This is only for UK domestic flights)
