Your title made me think of Rigsby's cat in Rising Damp - classic :rotfl:
Congratulations on being MF - what a massive achievement! Any words of wisdom, advise or tips?

Advice?
I simply set myself a goal and stuck to it. Also, as a family, we live within our means, no fancy holidays, no flash cars, no latest gadgets, no keeping up with the Jones. We bought a modest house in a nice area and made it a home. Avoid debt and don’t fall for the hype, the most valuable things you will ever possess are your health and the love and support of your family. Everything else is just noise.
Our story?
Picture this, 12 years ago, me, my wife and our six month old daughter living in a one bedroom garden flat in Sth London. The birth of our daughter changed everything, we looked around and decided we didn’t belong. Sold the flat, loaded everything we owned into a delivery van, got into our tiny car, baby strapped into the back seat, the cat sulking next to her, hit the M1 and headed north to start a new life, with £60k equity in our pocket. We settled in a lovely, rural part of Staffordshire and it has taken me eleven years to pay off the additional loan we needed to buy the house we are now in. Best decision we ever made.Father, Husband, Jogger, Painter. Mostly at the same time, except the jogging and painting bit, it didnt work out.0 -

Amazing.... You had courage to make that move, don't think I could just up and leave like you did :T
I now have a 8 month old, OP's are a lot less than they used to be as I've had to drop to part time, but your story gives me hope. I have a 7-10 year plan to be MF, hope I can achieve it like you.
Congrats again & enjoy your new MF life, nothing tying you down now"Don't underestimate the value of financial security"

wonderful news SidewaysAlthough hubby & I don't have children, we've gradually come to the same realisation that you had. We're in the process of down-sizing our home & mortgage in order to (hopefully) lead a more relaxed life.
