Debt collection for unpaid electricity bill and credit rating

Hi,

I was with EDF energy until April and then switched to a new provider.
The final invoice was completely wrong, and I told EDF. They were supposed to investigate and correct it. However, four months later, and without warning or hearing further from them, they have passed it to a debt collection company.

I have contacted EDF now and they have cancelled the debt collection.

Will that affect my credit rating?

Why not check your credit rating, and if any adverse information is recorded about you then ask EDF to remove it from the record (they are legally obliged to do so)? There are several credit rating agencies (CRAs): someone here should know which one(s) EDF use.

I will do, but will probably need to wait a few months, and this will also take time.
