if the the shower isn't used, it doesn't need to be on at all so the switch isn't going to wear out.
- and if by power shower you mean mains powered, it also is far safer to isolate it from the mains.!!

I am putting those battery power led lights in every room too as back up and to save on the leccy bill as my over head lights in lounge have 3 bulbs in and there is 2 of them
Batteries will cost more than your suppliers rates.
Unless you are going to charge them with a free power source such as, somebody elses house, or a solar panel you have been given for free.0 -
£100 for the quarter isnt too bad.. Spot Lights (GU10's) and higher watt bulbs (rather than low energy ones) can be a massive use..
The energy monitors are a good idea, that way can walk round turning things on & off and see how the usage changes (i had 6 spots in small kitchen and remember seeing how that spiked!). undercounter lighting is the preference now on evening when dont need to see as clearly..
Also switched outdoor floodlight to an B&Q Led one (newer style) - less than 10 watts i think and that provides ok light..0
