Hi,
Let’s say you just bought a car and let’s say it’s a grp 17, now I have only got 1 yrs NC so this looks pretty pricy, however can either
1. Have some 1 with 9+ NC bonus insure the car with me as 2nd driver, but I actually pay the cost as I will be driving it most
Or
2. Drive the car with my current insurance which allows me to drive other car with the driver’s permission
Also In both cases if there is an accident with the vehicle, should it only affect my insurance and not the other driver?

1. Its fraud (fronting). Go ahead, very easy to spot and they will happily do it if they catch you.
2. The car will need to be insured, at the moment it wont have any insurance on it.
3. It will affect his, as he will have a claim agaisnt his name, even if he didnt crash it.0 -
1. As pointed out above, you would be declaring to the insurer that the other driver is the main user of the vehicle, when it is in fact yourself who is the main user. Usually quite easy for the insurer to spot and almost always results in a voided policy. As if that wasn't enough, there would probably be a problem with regard to the ownership of the vehicle and what insurers call 'insurable interest'.
2. The driving other cars entitlement requires the 'other' car to be insured in its own right.
Don't use scams like these to lower your premiums - use MSE's guide to lowering premiums and if they're still too high then you need to get a different car. Simple as that.0
