Thank you, Gary, for delivering to my neighbour today. I didn't know you were coming or I would have been in!

DPD send an email the day beforehand to advise you.

yes I would say DPD are one of the best for notifications.
the day before you will get an email with a link to their tracking page and on the morning of the delivery you get another email that will tell you the drivers name and give you an 1hr timeslot of when it will be delivered, so not like others anything 8am to 6pm

i usually get a text as well from DPD

however, not all companies give them the details so they can do that. I've bought some stuff before which used DPD but receive no notification at all.

DPD wont allow you arrange a collection like may couriers unless to add a recipients email address or phone number incase they need to contact recipient.

Yes, that's always been the case before but I didn't get any for this one. Cycrow above says he/she has had similar situation.

i can only assume the seller has given DPD the wrong details. I have used both sides of DPD, but no longer use them to collect since they changed their pricing structure for small runs.

I got an e-mail from them last week and as I wasn't expecting anything was worried if it was real. It was though and I was very impressed. Saw the e-mail with delivery details after it came as I'm not always on the computer.

I was exceedingly impressed with them on this weekend. I received an email telling me it was on it's way to the depot and with tracking info, then an email the next day giving me an hour timescale in which it would be delivered. I am pleased to say it was at the beginning of that hour. I wish all delivery companies worked this way!
