starting a small food business

Options
Hey guys,

I love to bake as a hobby and have often thought about doing it as a sideline, maybe sell my goods at fairs, festivals, one-off commissions for parties, etc.
I'm looking for advice about how I can go about this as simply as possible. Anyone out there who has experience of this ? What licenses do I need ? Do I need special hygiene certificates ? And does the kitchen where the food is prepared need to be registered or inspected ? What sort of costs am I looking at to become legal and above-board ?

Many thanks !
