Speeding fine help

Good Evening

Looking for some advice please, my sister has received a speeding fine through the post. She has accepted it was her etc etc so needs to send her licence back to be endorsed. However she is recently divorced and her licence is in her married name and her car in her maiden name. The paperwork is very clear the documents need to match. She returned her licence to the DVLA for her name changing hoping it would come back in time to return. They have returned it however as the documents weren't correct she sent with it its still in her old name. She is coming to the end of the 7 days and now risking a summons......

Can anyone advise what will happen if the summons her? Will they grant an extension if she calls and explains? She has already spoken to them and explains as a woman she is legally entitled to use both names both names but they wouldn't accept that.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks Kelly

I don't see why, if she was speeding in a hire car , then the documents would not match, somehow I think there is an unecessary drama about to brew.

Try over at the peppipoo forums.

Bit late now, but when she filled in the drivers name on the NIP she should have put the same name as on her driving licence.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

  • Apologies may not be clear in my previous post, it was her own car not. Hire car.

It was clear enough, the paperwork asks for the name of the driver at the time of the incident, I honestly do not recall any added request about the vehicle, be aware your relative may get a standard 3 point £60 fine, but keep dilly dallying, until it goes to court and expect more. So do the right thing get the paperwork retruned NOW.
