Travel insurance

We are travelling to France in August for 2 weeks. I need to find insurance for us (family of 5), but i am currently suffering from gallstones.

I have been referred to the hospital and I will have my gallbladder removed on 29.6.07. The consultant said if everything goes to plan then my holiday should be fine.

The problem is that we need purchase insurance now as we need to provide the details to the tour operator when we pay our balance on monday.

What are my options? Should I insure myself separately? By the way My husband also suffers from Asthma but this is usually covered by telling ins co as he hasn't had any problems with it for about 20 years.

Surely your insurance arrangements are your business, nothing to do with the Tour Operator?

If you're purchasing travel insurance make them aware that you have the date for it.

the only reason travel agents or tour operators ask for your policy details like policy number is because they can provide insurance themselves and wont charge you twice! Also some particular travel agents and holidays require that you must have travel insurance.
