Income Support When Preganant

Can anyone help or give me some advise please?

I am currently on Job Seekers Allowance after being made redundant in March. This is due to end soon and Ive been told I should apply for income support 11 weeks before my due date.
Can anyone tell me or does anyone know if you can get income support if your other half is on a high wage? Im going to try and apply but dont think i will get it due to my boyfriends wage.
If I cant get income support what else can I apply for?

Really worried and stressed now! Ive worked all my life and it seems unfair that now that I need help I may not be able to.

Thanks

It's not compulsory but one 'may' apply for Income Support.

You must be getting Conts based JSA right now as you refer to your partner's high wage that would disqualify you from I/S and income based JSA.

So long as you can satisfy the JC that you are still available and looking for work you can carry on with the JSA claim.
  • If your boyfriend lives with you, you will not get it at all. However if he does not - but is just a high wage earner and lives elsewhere you might.

Other than that there is nothing that I am aware of that you will be able to claim at present. When you were made redundant in March, were you pregnant at that time? I only ask as there may be a possibility of claiming Maternity Allowance as that is only just 5 months back and it states that it might be payable if you have stopped worked recently, but gov site does not state how recently it needs to be so may be worth ring DWP up to find out?

you wont get income support as it is means tested.

i assume your high earning partner is the father of your expected baby?
if so, why dont you think he should support you financially?

How many weeks are you now? If you were pregnant before you were made redundant you'd likely qualify for maternity allowance

I'm with Nannytone on this ....when did it become wrong to expect a man to support his pregnant wife/partner and child?
