IKEA Kitchen Applad or Abstrakt

Options
Hi All,

I have decided on an IKEA kitchen for a rental property (so please don't tell me they are rubbish and I should go elsewhere). I have been doing my research and I have read on US forums that the Applad doors can crack and look a mess quite quickly. To be safe I should go for the Abstrakt doors - but they are pricey.

Has anyone got any experiences good or bad with these two door types?

Thanks.

Ikea's US product is not the same as its European one. All the UK product is based on the Faktum carcases - the US product is different so I don't think you can put any store on what US forums are saying. Have a look at Stadt as a third alternative.

    Cheers

Oh and IKEA kitchens are fine if you are on a budget. Just get a fitter who knows what he is doing with them.

Excellent choice for tenanted or owner occupied properties. Haven't had any problems with Ikea cabinets or door fronts but, as with any rental property, durability of quality fittings is usually dependent on the individual tenant....some right horrors out there!

Have you been on the Ikea Fans website then? Excellent resource. Other threads on this subforum as well.

I have no problem whatsoever with Ikea kitchens, got one in my own house, it was a doddle to put together, and a year and a half later, no damage, working good as new...can't see it is any worse than any other brands!

I have Abstrakt, so can't comment on applad i'm afraid.

My parents had an Ikea kitchen fitted around 10 years ago, it still looks really good. They used a local fitter they knew well who did a really good job of installing it.

I've had them for 5 years, because they were the cheapest I could find that didn't look really nasty.
They're fine. Get the clip on door closers.
