Backdating tax credits

I applied for child/tax credits in may (application received 1st june by h&m revenue)
Believe it or not its taken until today, 13 aug, to finally get a reward. The amount rewarded is as expected, however they don't seem to be backdating it.
My initial claim was refused as too much earnt last year, final claim is around £50 child tax £10 working tax weekly.
The reason for the delay was they had my date of birth wrong so i had to send passport to them.
Isn't it going to be backdated? I thought they would pay from the date i applied, can someone tell me what i'm entitled too?
Thanks.

I would have thought that it should be dated from June to now. Give them a ring on the number on the top of the AWARD notice - it is not a reward. Just thought I'd let you know that. Kind of made me chuckle though. Perhaps they closed the original one down due to wrong Date birth? Who knows with HMRC.0

As Houseunderwater said, give them a ring and speak to someone there. Explain the situation with the delay and they will be able to request the claim be backdated further.
Be aware though, that backdating claims can take a number of weeks so chasing them for an answer will only waste your time. I think its about 5 weeks to backdate at the moment.
