Application web fail!

hi there,

I was applying online for a LloydsTSB CC, and was accepted, but when it said 'check the details of the card you're applying for' the length of 0% balance transfer on the card differed from what I thought I was applying for.

I didn't complete my application, and instead tried again to get the offer I wanted.

At the end of that, I was declined as I'd applied within the last 30 days.

I've tried to contact LloydsTSB, but haven't managed to speak to anybody despite being on the phone for 45mins+!

So a couple of questions.

1. Will this decline affect my credit score?

2. Should I apply for another credit card without speaking to Lloyds TSB? I have received no confirmation email or ref code for my application from Llloyds TSB.

Thanks,

Institutes cannot see the decision from a search directly. They will simply see the two footprints. If you were to apply elsewhere a few months later they'd notice the lack of a new account from Lloyds but that could be because they declined or you turned down their offer.

As to applying elsewhere, thats up to you. You already have two footprints (though I believe most institutes ignore multiple searches in very close succession from the same provider) and may cause further issues by making further applications.

    That was a bit silly.

My advice would be to phone Lloyds TSB, explain to them what has happened. Re iterate you were accepted first time round. At the least they should help progress the first application... and if you ask nicely they might remove the second search from your credit files.

They offer different lengths of 0% for the same card so you may have been classed as higher risk

If you have a Lloyds current account you may not have been credit checked for the card, I wasn't

If they offer different lengths of 0% for the same card then surely that indicates they price for risk, and would just offer a lower length of 0%.

Some companies do this which makes getting their products a little easier, the ones that don't price for risk will just flat out decline customers that don't meet the criteria.

As I say before, I'd be on the blower explaining the situation... two wasted credit searches wouldn't sit well with me.
