    You have my sympathies! I am facing a very similar situation! I am also in accounting although I am not qualified and I am also a Scorpio!!

    I find it rather insulting to be offered a lower position/less salary and the overwhelming feeling for me is to tell them to go and f**k themselves! However there is then the fear of not having a job which they know full well and are exploiting! Its a very difficult situation and I hope you manage to come to a decision thats best for you and your family.

    The benefits of a trial of the new job are as follows:

    1) It drags out the process such that you get a few more weeks wages

    2) You can see how commuting affects your life, which will help if it becomes an option / requirement in the future

    3) It is a trial. The situation may not be as bad as you think.
