Housing Benefit Suspension (IS TO JSA)

Any advice really appreciated!
My HB has been suspended whilst I'm being moved from Income Support to JSA (child turned 5) I made sure I informed Housing Benefit of the change a few weeks beforehand and was told there would be no need for it to be suspended.
Anyway it was, I'm having to live off very little at the moment as I'm getting no JSA (first sign in this week, not sure when I'll get paid) and I'm having to save all my CB and CTC to cover the rent which is due in 2 weeks time.
Has anyone any experience of how long HB will be suspended for? Our council have an online facility when I checked it said a payment would be made on the 19th, I phoned them and they said that would only be made if the account was unsuspended by then (although the amount shows a 4 weekly payment when I normally receive 2 weekly payments).
I privately rent.
So my questions that I really hope someone can help with are -
A) How long can I can reasonably expect the Unsuspending of my HB to take?
B) How long after first signing on will I receive a payment of JSA (I've had my first interview and claim is being taken from 4 weeks ago)
Many thanks in advance to anyone who maybe able to help me.

I have only been on JSA I haven't had to change from benefit to another, from my interview I had a payment in three weeks. If you haven't already it might be an idea to tell your landlord/estate agent, obviously they know you receive HB so they may be willing to allow you to pay your rent a bit later.

Thanks for the reply, was your jsa payment 3 weeks from signing or 3 weeks from interview please? Good thinking with the HB too, I don't really want to let them down but sometimes it's unavoidable I suppose.

Sorry, I can't help with the JSA question, but at our council if you provide a letter confirming that you have only got CTC/CHB coming in and provide a recent bank statement to support this, then they should be able to unsuspend even if your JSA hasn't been awarded yet.

That's really useful, thank you so much :)

Yes, visit a council one for all centre to inform them of a change of circumstances in that your income has become lower and provide them with your last three bank statements as evidence that your savings and capital is below £6K. It may help to show them a DWP letter about your IS stopping.

It's that easy to get your HB reinstated because it's means-tested based on income and capital.
