the breathalyser rule has been postponed with no new date announced. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Don't you need the breathalyser now? my OH is driving to France in a couple of weeks and he was told that he needed one by the car hire company.£100 - £10,0000

Last I heard was the requirement was still there, they just don't have any mechanism to enforce it.
A law that can't be enforced pretty much doesn't exist0 -

Perhaps for the sake of £5.99 it's better to be safe than sorry? I'll be travelling through France next month and will have a pack in the glove box. Avoids any potential arguments on the other side.0 -

Safe from what?
There's no way that you can be prosecuted or fined for not having one0 -
Thank you for that.
My sat nav is built into the car - as in it is part of my radio/phone thing. I might be able to turn off speed camera things, what if I can't? does that mean I can't use the sat nav?
If it's a built in unit, you may find that it doesn't do French speed camera warnings. Mine doesn't.
One thing that I don't think has been mentioned is breakdown insurance for the car.0 -
And I believe that if you wear glasses to drive you must carry a spare pair in the car.0
