DLA, ESA and education

If I receive DLA, and begin receiving ESA (the support based component) but then commence on a full time HE course, would I still be eligible for both components? And would I have to inform the DWP?

Thanks.

Sorry op I was given the run around. But from what they told me I can claim ESA now then when college starts I will lose it because apparently that means I'm fit for work. Dla is ok though.

I don't know what kind of course you are on but I believe this in itself can affect your entitlement to benefits as does whether it is full time or part time.

Really the best place to ask about your benefits is the Welfare Officer at your college/university.

    I have found this:

http://www.hope.ac.uk/lifeathope/studentsupport/welfareandbenefits/disabledstudentsdisabilitybenefits/ for the original poster as he is starting Higher Education.

However, there is a part in it that talks about being refused ESA because they are saying you are 'fit for work'. Apparently you can challenge this.

By the way, are you on contribution based ESA or income based?
