Your course ended on the official end date of the course I.e. 5th June as stated on your uni letter. I suggest you ask them to reconsider their decision to award JSA from 25th july on the grounds that the official end date of your course was 5th June 2013, supply the letter from the university to support your request. I assume you claimed JSA from 6th June? If so, you will have 3 waiting days and would be paid from 9th June.
Also quote the Law in your letter: Jobseekers Allowance Regulations 1996, Regulation 1 (3A)(b) or Decision Makers Guide para 30223. You need to request a reconsideration by letter within one month of the date you were notified of your JSA award.

    Hope this helps.

That's if the course end date is the same as the end of term date. If you asked my uni what date my course ended last year they would have told you a date at the beginning of june (can't remember the exact date) but for JSA purposes they went by the overall university end of term date which was near the end of june.

So just an update on this. (re: being paid from July 25th even though term ended on the 5th of June and I applied soon afterwards)

I've sent them two letters and still no reply. One was a recorded delivery letter nearly a month ago now and the other was a normal 1st class letter last week. I just asked them to look into and respond to my queries about not being paid on the right date.

Still no reply. Are they just binning these letters or what? Should I just fill out a GL24 form and send it recorded delivery? Then it would have to be looked into I'm guessing and I'd get a response. I have about 2 weeks to do that. Fed up sending them letters.

Telephone them, the number is on your award letter. You'll be put through to a call centre but there's no way around that. The call centre will probably refer your call to the office dealing with your claim and will give you a three hour call back. Don't be put off when they call you back, at least insist that they confirm that they've received your recorded delivery letter then find out when it will be dealt with.
