Waiting on 'improved offer'

We rejected an offer last week (Thursday) and havent heard back since....

Resisting the urge to pick up the phone to the EA to see whats going on as the price offered is not one we would be willing to sell at & we are in no great rush until the price is right, but darn its hard to wait!!

    What's your point?

Have you been told they're making an improved offer? Cause if you haven't they might not be. And don't they have to put any offer to you no matter how small it is?

Maybe what they offered was the most they were able or willing to pay, in which case an 'improved offer' isn't necessarily going to be forthcoming.

it sounds like your'e getting twitchy ... the potential buyer must be playing it exactly right ... no doubt you'll snapping up their very slightly increased offer when it finally comes *wiggles eyebrows* ;)

Maybe that's the best offer you're going to get. What were you expecting to hear after you rejected the offer on Thursday?

Sounds like you'll be on the market for a long while, then.

Are you sure the 'right price' is in the ballpark for what the market is willing to pay?

how much under your asking price was the offer...?
    Was it a realistic offer...

just because you reject an offer doesnt mean that the offer will be increased...we offered on a few properties and if the offer was rejected we walked away....sounds like thats what your viewers may have done.

In my experience that is quite unusual as many people tend to under-bid the first time and knowing this, many vendors almost automatically decline first bids... it is part of the game isn't it? :p

How do you know you're playing the same game as those you're playing with, though?

In my case, I've made my third and final offer, which was rejected with "can you think about increasing your offer?". I said no, but left the offer on the table, as I won't go higher. So, it does happen that the buyer is prepared to walk away.
    Good, clean fun.... :D

It's this sort of cr*p that contributes to house buying & selling being such a stressful PITA.

    I'm with LEJC.
    We don't play games.
Whenever we've bought we make an offer we think is fair and if the seller turns us down we move on.

    It really isn't 'crap'.

It is about getting the best price for your property AND buying the property for the cheapest price possible.

It is negotiation so there is no need to be over emotional during the process. There are not many people in the world who can afford to over-pay for (or under-sell) their most valuable possession, so obviously negotiation is a must.
