British Airways Cancellation Fees

Hi All,
I recently missed a BA flight and wanted to try to get a refund of the taxes etc. charged on the ticket.
The receipt said that the actual ticket price is £10, the total price with taxes, charges etc. being £89.90.
I requested a refund and they have offered me 80 pence! Here's the breakdown:
_______
Fare/Taxes GBP 89.30
Penalty (deducted) GBP 58.50
Channel Fee (Deducted) GBP 30.00
Total amount refunded GBP 0.80
________
Can anyone advise if these charges are reasonable? What's a channel fee?
Perhaps someone could offer advice about challenging these fees.
Thanks!

Channel fee is usually the charge for using a particular method - e.g. if there is an automated online cancellation option the channel fee for that is probably less than for phoning up a support centre.
Whether that's reasonable depends on the type of ticket and the terms and conditions. Ask them what the basis is for each of the deductions and where the T&Cs allow them.

note with BA the taxes, charges etc include the fuel surcharge (likely the largest part) which is not refundable, only the airport taxes. If this was a domestic flight the APD would be about £13. You can check on ITA and get a full breakdown (YQ will be the fuel surcharge)0
