Do you still list on ebay over the Summer?

Hi

I just wondered what people do over the Summer? Is it worth listing anything or is everyone either on holiday or in the garden and not interested in buying off ebay?!

I was thinking of leaving it over the Summer and selling again in the Autumn as it seems so slow at the moment - surely it will just get worse as the school Summer break approaches.

Any views?

Donna

I list all year round, summer doesn't seem any slower for my items than the rest of the year. I do have dead patches occasionally, but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to them at all.

I list all year round, the only real time it goes quiet is when your listing starts or finishes on a bank holiday. Not everybody goes on holiday, and you only have to get a bad weather day and your listings could do really well. Good Luck

I always have a week or 2 off in the summer for a holiday, so i just set my shop to holiday mode.
  • probably depends on what people sell, but i dont see a problem with sales being low in the summer, afterall if that was the case many high street outlets would just pull up the shutters for weeks!

the same would happen over easter too?

Exactly! Easter was really bad for me!

I just wondered whether people really sit at the computer when the weather is good. At least if you go to the shops in the sun, you are still enjoying the weather. At the computer, you just look at the weather from the window!!!

As has been said all depends on what you sell.

Also you need to realise that ebay is not a 9-5 shop (i know you probably allready do, just the idea of it) . Most sales are made during the evenings.

    My sales are booming!:D
I'm trying to get out of the house to go shopping and sales keep popping up, I went to post 5 parcels this morning, by the time I got back I had 3 more sales:p.

For me personally sales on eBay have been very slow since mid spring and especially last week where I listed around 30 items at £1.65 a time and only sold 4 so I made no profit at all and lost quite a bit of money. Also heard from other members that business has been very slow lately but I just guess it depends on what you are selling

The school holidays slow things down a bit, you can always tell when ebay is a bit quiet as they have a cheap listing day/weekend...
    The money, Dave...
