BT => Sky landline

I have recently switched my landline billing from BT to Sky.

Q is - Is the onus on me to cancel my BT DD and if so, can my credit rating be affected?

Sky is up and running but I've had different answers from their online chat.

Thanks in advance.

    Only the account holder can cancel a DD-not the payee. All they can do is cease to draw on it. So it's your job.
    Why would cancelling a DD affect your credit rating, assuming that you paid your closing BT bill?

    If you owe BT money or have time left on your contract and cancel the direct debit they would chase you for the outstanding amount.

    If you don't owe them any money and your contract is over with BT then you have nothing to worry about.
