What detergents work well for cleaning laundry with cold water only?

My washing machine has recently stopped heating up the water which means our clothes are not coming out as clean as they used to. We are renting so our landlord is not in a rush to fix the washing machine. I am therefore wondering if there are any specific detergents that I can get in the UK that work well for cleaning laundry with cold water for the time being?

Is the washing machine part of the lease? If so I would have thought he should be repairing.

Interestingly my daughter has a flat where although the WM is is there it was specifically excluded so my reading of that is when it fails then tough.

We didn't get an inventory when we moved in as the landlord was away and takes a very back seat approach to his rental property. Our contract is the standard AST which mentions fixtures and fittings needing to be maintained by the landlord.

When we have had problems in the fast he does fix them he just takes a while.

I have found that the non-bio tablets from Lidl dissolve well at lower water temperatures. On the box it says effective from 30°C. You can also use hand-wash powders that are suitable for use in washing machines too.
