how much sand cement to lay slabs

hi,
I am putting slabs down for a driveway, and need to find out quantities of materials to use.
the Area is 4.3mtrs by 5.2 mtrs, I am planning to put down 4 inches of hardcore, and 2 inches of sand/cement, and then 40 600x600 slabs (50mm thick).
I am not slabbing the whole area I am doing strips of slabs and stones (20mm gravel).
from looking at some calculators on the internet, I need just under 4 tonnes of hardcore, and just under 2 tonne of sharp sand, but i'm not sure how much cement to buy? is it 3 parts sand and 1 part cement to get the right mix to put the slabs on?
i'm also worried about drainage as the area slopes very gradually from the pavement to the front of the house, do I need to install a drain at the bottom (by the house).

thanks
colin
its only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.

Whats the traffic going to be?

Is the sharp sand for a blinding layer over the MoT subbase?

Seeing as you mentioned drainage putting down an impervious driveway needs Planning Permission these days.

  • its just my fiat punto driven on and reversed off, and the occasional visitors car next to mine.
I am planning to mix the sharp sand with cement to form a solid base for laying the salbs on but just need to know the quantities

At your thickness about 5 t of mot and 2and half t of grit and 8 bags of cement, about 5 to 1 mix is good enough

3:1 for vehiculat traffic. The mix needs to be consistent across the project.
