Is a score of 825 for an 18 year old good?

I recently entered the credit expert website and got a score of 825.

Would this be okay when applying for student bank accounts?

score doesn't have a great lot of bearing in the real world.

At 18 you'll have no credit history, so if said student bank accounts come with overdrafts you might struggle.

I'm not sure, but I think certainly with some student accounts you have to supply proof you are actually a student.

  • Scores are meaningless.

If you are on electoral role and have no adverse credit then I guess you have done what you can.

Phone on contract would also help.

The score is something that only the CRA and yourself see. This is the reason for the two comments above.

I've seen those with bankruptcy on their files get 999 'scores', and yet I've got about 6 CC's, several current accounts, numerous settled/low balance mortgages, various settled 0% car finances, and total debt (including BTL mortgages) at about 30% of what I earn, yet am rated as a bad risk by the agencies. This is despite having looked to move house earlier this year, and being offered a mortgage running into 7 figures. My total available credit is no more than 40% of my pre-tax income, either.

See how useless these scores are now?

as long as your a student, student accounts are usually easier to get without any kind of credit history.

afterall, most students going to uni who will use them are only 18 and will have no credit history. If you needed a good credit history then most students wouldn't be able to get them, making them pointless.

Everyone i went to uni with all had no problem getting student accounts with overdrafts and credit cards. alot of them were only 18 and had no credit at all, not even phone contracts.

The electoral roll also didn't effect me, as i wasn't on it at my student address when i started uni, but it didn't stop me getting 2 student accounts.

As long as you dont have a bad history, then it should be fine
