Nottingham hotel wanted - August/September

I'm doing quite a few overnighters in Nottingham and am looking for a hotel.
I don't mind a bit of a drive, up to 3-4 miles, but I'm working about a mile to the east of the city centre NG3 and would prefer something that side so I don't need to do a cross-city commute in the morning.
Trouble is I don't really like "chain" hotels, Premier Inn, Jurys etc and would much prefer to find a characterful inn that has en-suite accommodation preferably one that sells real ales and has on site parking. Budget is £80 a night.
That doesn't sound too tricky but so far I've drawn a blank!
Anyone with local knowledge that can recommend anything?

Does it have to be a hotel? How about a serviced apartment - this one is great -

it has its own parking area, and its about 5 minutes walk through the Lace Market to loads of city centre bars and pubs with real ale etc. Its 2 streets away from the ring road as well, which will take you out of the city centre and out to the East of the city.0 -
Interesting. I'd seen them on booking.com and had discounted them. I've also seen a place a couple of miles out of town called Colwick Hall that looks ok but a bit "weddingy". My holy grail though is still a nice coaching house/inn if there is anything like that around."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0

Hi
Hope you don't mind me bumping this up as I will be visiting Nottingham soon and like you would like something that isn't a chain hotel. Any ideas out there?? Thanks :idea:0 -
Booking.com has some cheap ones I've stayed in the brittania for £25 before! I stayed in a guesthouse in ng2, it was callem elm bank apartments or something similar that was nice and was cheap x0
