Thanks for the advice everyone went to currys today and got a very cheeky reply from the currys collegue and manageress if there was any other decent electrical store in dundee i'd never be going back to currys unfornately theres no more decent ones :(

But got it from argos and paid £100 so i'd get it today everyone only had display models but argos :)

Just used it and had a gluten free loaf made my wife likes it but i've found it chewy so might have to experiment :)

    Was good though :D

Hiya, I bought a SD253 a few weeks back on ebay, brand new £75 including postage. I have used it several times, I have been using Doves Farm Gluten Free White Bread Mix (I get it from health food shops, but have seen it in Asda in Milton Keynes), cost about £1.90 and makes 2 medium loaves. So far havent tried any other mixes, but this bread is gorgeous, either make a sandwich when it is warm, or toasted. If I have it for toast I slice really thinly, and put the whole sliced loaf in the freezer, just taking it out as I need it. Toast it really well and smother in butter (:j ), it is so crunchy and yummy!

I especially bought this breadmaker as it has gluten free settings, so far I am more than pleased with it. Gluten free toast and roasted tomatoes and cheese..............gorgeous!!!:T :T :T
  • The new Panasonic model replacing the SD253 is the SD255, which has some small but worthwhile improvements, including an easier user interface. I've done a review of the Panasonic SD255 here after having received mine this week. It seems to be £99 everywhere - I tried shopping around - so if you're buying online do it with somewhere offering free delivery such as Amazon.

I had been thinking about getting the SD253 for ages and had finally decided to make the purchase when I found it had been 'replaced' with this newer model.

Have printed off your review and will give it a read tonight. Thanks for the post!

I was just checking prices online for the SD255 and came across one for £94.99 (via Kelkoo) at goshopdirect.co.uk. Delivery is free (3-4 days) and it says that if you order "today" you will receive a further £2.00 off the price via a code sent to your email address.

I've not used this site before so couldn't speak for it's reputation, but anyone thinking of purchasing the Panasonic SD255 should have a look!:j

Ok, have taken the plunge and ordered from goshopdirect - £92.99 total with the emailed voucher code. Now to be patient . . .

my mother swears by this model! but i have a normal MR one and works fine for less money.
    Make £10 a day challenge March 2013 £101.24 / £240 :j
    WSC 10 March - £0 / £5
    Debt £17,294 - 7th March
  • I bought my sd253 from currys online about 15 months ago for about £70, I think I must have had a special offer code. I'm surprised they are still that expensive but it is a fab machine.

The new one looks like it takes up less space on the worktop, from the pictures I've seen it's narrower and taller.

I see they still haven't made the measuring cup big enough!
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.
