New panasonic sd253?

Options
I'm going to buy a panasonic sd253 on Sunday from currys got the display model put a side and getting it for £90 matching the online price and despite trying to haggle not getting any discount :(

Been thinking though everywhere is sold out because the new model is due out does anybody know what the difference will be? Will it be the same with maybe new added features? tried looking but cant find any details but maybe i'm searching wrongly. Desperate to get this though so i can make my gluten free bread :D

I saw that one in John Lewis too - I was a bit confused as I was actually looking for the SD253 (just to have a look at it) and didn't know there was a new model out! A member of staff said that although it's narrower it still makes loaves the right way up, as it were (as opposed to a very tall thin loaf that has to be sliced on its side IYKWIM.)

Thanks tough descion now whether to buy that or go for the older one which has won the awards as somtimes a newer model is'nt as good.

anybody else looking to buy and bought the new one?

Thanks for posting that link. The new SD255 looks interesting, as it can also do spelt and rye, and it has a viewing window (which is the one thing I do miss)...but it looks like some of the other programmes may have gone.

Panasonic haven't posted the instruction booklet yet, so I can't tell for sure. Mind you, I looked at their description for the SD253 and that didn't really do it justice either.

There is also a new SD254, which is the same as the 255 but with a raisin beep instead of a raisin dispenser. No good for me, I'd rather have the dispenser, but it may be a bit cheaper.

I might have to pop to John Lewis and have a look. I've got some JL vouchers, and will have some more this month after my June Partnership Card statement...and I'm very tempted. I can justify it to myself by passing my perfectly good SD253 on to my DSD.

WOuld be interested to hear how anyone has got on with it.

Still unsure what to do like the idea of going for the newer model and the added features but dont like the idea of it maybe not being as good as the old one lol.
