Halifax Credit Card Verification Phone call

On thursday I applied for a credit card in a Halifax branch, they said I would get a phone call in a few days to confirm that I had applied for a card.

I was just wondering if they will wait until monday to ring, instead of ringing on the weekend, or that I should get in contact with them to make sure everything is ok.

Thanks

They probably won't ring you on a Sunday so don't expect a call today.

If they said few days the it will probably be Tues or Wed before you hear any thing but there is nothin to stop you ringing them on Mon.
  • Bit strange to get a call to confirm your application IMO. -You were in branch is that not confirmation enough?

You might well get a call to activate the card (again a bit iffy as I prefer to do the call) or you might get a call asking you to say what you think of the way you were sold the product.

Either way don't make much of this call - if you made the application in branch and you were successful you have nothing to worry about.

Looks like they're getting paranoid about mis-selling in branches, or rather, about covering themselves against accusations of mis-selling. There was another thread where a poster said that Halifax had phoned him to check that he really wanted his packaged account. So then they'd have it on record.

The call will be nothing to do with the approval process.

They are verifying that the way the product has been sold to you has made you aware of the key products features and charges.

In other words, making sure that the sales force is acting in your best interests and not stitching you up.

And covering their own *** at the same time :-)
  • Thanks guys, the woman in the bank did talk me through the questions which would be asked in the phone call - just mainly verifying that I wasn't misold anything etc.

Hopefully they will ring tomorrow because its my day off work!

When they rang me, they ignored the number I wrote on the application form and rang the company I said I worked for instead and asked for me. I assume this was a quick check to make sure I did work there.
  • Just popped in halifax because I was nearby...they said they don't always ring. They said my card is on its way so it seems I was waiting for nothing.:D
