Tap repair

Hi all,

I am trying to remove a tap, the handle is held in place by a M5 x 0.8 grub screw which is out of sight round the back.

(I downloaded the manufactures manual)

I have tried a 4mm and 3mm Alen Key but nether seem to fit.

Now I don't think that make a 3.5 size... Could those with knowledge let me know what size alen key is needed for a M5 x 0.8 grub

Thanks

It's the top of the tap, handle assembley if you will..

It a single basin mixer tap, with a turn left/right for hot/cold and up/down for on or off.

    A Bristan Blade tap..

The handle assembly has had the chrome damaged by a cleaning product, having sourced the part from Bristan I just can get this grub screw undone.

When that can be done the instructions lead me to think the handle will just pull off.

    Cheers

yes you should just have to undo the grub screw & pull it off, normally the taps come with the right size key but i guess that is long gone

    Oh yes.. Long gone...

I know it's a M5 grub (bristan website)... Know its not a 4mm or 3mm hex... So have ordered a 3.5.. If its not that... I will just need to find a very big hammer!

    Cheers

Try an imperial set on it. It's not as daft as it may sound.
