Recommend me a PCI Graphics Card with HDMI

Family member has a new desktop tower computer which has a VGA and DVI output. It does not have a HDMI output.

They have BT Sport via the computer which they can play onto the 19" monitor, this is not ideal as they are getting older and now want to watch it on the TV.

We cannot connect via the DVI as its a Nvidea onboard graphics card and not the ATI which can pass through the sound with the adaptor.

Therefore we need to put a PCI Graphics Card with a HDMI output. Its just for streaming BT Sport so nothing fancy, and can be 2nd hand from ebay. :)

Since they are as little as £19 new, it hardly worth purchasing second hand. Though of course, purchase what you can afford. Another option

You could just use DVI - HDMI cable and an audio cable for sound perhaps? Don't know if there's possible sound delay issues. (Fairly sure I did it once with a laptop, might've used a S/PDIF sound output option, can't remember for sure.)

Sometimes it is even possible to get sound from DVI on integrated Nvidia (see post by sawdust Jan 23 '12 at 3:33)

Have you checked for a VGA connection on the TV?

    Mobeer,

Yes it has a VGA on the TV & the Computer, in addition to the DVI output connector. However they wanted HDMI. They want Sound & Video in Sync without any extra cables, hence the HDMI PCI card.

Do you really want a PCI card? Except in the rare 64-bit 66MHz version PCI is too slow for uncompressed HD video, and although some graphics cards have video decoders not all software will use them.

AGP mostly replaced PCI for graphics cards over a decade ago, and has since been replaced by PCI Express (abbreviated to PCIe). It is still common to find 32-bit PCI slots alongside PCI Express.

Is it PCI Express card that you want?

Would some cable wrap solve the problem with multiple cables?
