This is off topic, but wondered if anyone could help?

Does anyone know Manchester at all?

My brother has just got a job in Manchester after being out of work for years. We are in North yorkshire, and he doesn't want to commit to renting a flat just yet in case the job doesn't work out (past experience).
So he's going to get the train every week and stay in a hotel, the ones he's found so far have been about £75 per day! (he'd be staying 4 nights a week)
His job is near the main train station, so would like a hotel within walking distance.

Just wondered if anyone that may know the area might have any moneysaving ideas?
