O/S Daily Sunday 11th August 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone

I couldn't find the thread but it's quite late so am now panicking that I have duplicated it. Someone please shout out if I have.

Have been trying to post on another part of the forum for about 30 minutes and kept getting a message that I was blocked but it appears it is something to do with smileys, so will leave them out of this message completely.

Lots of ebay photography and listing planned for today to take advantage of free listing weekend. Am very annoyed about new seller fees on ebay, why do they think we should pay charges on postage expenses? Grrrr!

Bacon and egg for brunch and low carb sushi for dinner. Need to do an Aldi top up shop today for cooked meats for salads and other lunches.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Good Morning everyone

Aaargh, no smilies, how will I punctuate lol!

I'm going to my neice's wedding today and she's got a lovely sunny day too. Her mum (my sister) got married in the same venue 6 weeks ago so it's a bit of deja vu but I'm sure it's going to be a lovely day. My eldest daughter is coming over to babysit the girls and pets so we don't have to rush back.

Anyway, have to shower and get ready so bye for now.
Take care and gentle hugs for anyone who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x

Morning TTFTN and all to follow.

Cant see another thread so think you are ok. Bit overcast here this morning, but blowy, will strip my bed after this and get it on the line.

Foot is so much better today, can walk unaided but just not very far, I rested it again yesterday and I really think its helping.

OH took the carpet up in the bedroom yesterday, we are going to see if the floorboards could be sanded back, but I think they are just too far gone, will have to make a decision today / tomorrow but I think it will be new oak flooring.

Going to do some listing on Ebay later, we have a load of stuff to go on, so while I am out of action will do that.

Dinner last night was haloumi + veg kebabs with pitta and salad, was very nice indeed, today will be jacket spuds.

Have good days all xx

Not seen Jools for a while, is she away ?
• Hi all,
Still have more painting to do today, but its almost done! The white gloss on the skirting boards and door frames looks fab next to the chocolate brown walls - very happy with it!
Weather looks sunny here in Newcastle. I can't wait for it to be autumn though!
Need to put weedkiller on the front and back lawns today - theres not much grass, its all weeds so hopefully once the weeds have gone we can see what state the grass itself is in, but we'll probably need to sow some grass seed.

Getting very excited because it's my 30th birthday in January, and my BF is taking me to London to the Harry Potter Studio Tour :-) Been looking on the internet at photos from the tour! Need to start saving my pennies to buy souvenirs!!

Got the DW on and I need to put a load of washing on too. Should really go and make a start with the painting though! Going to BF's mum's for tea tonight so that saves on cooking!

Hope you all have a good day!

Morning all,

No drunks last night, but instead we had a group outside the house two doors down chatting excitedly in French. I put the fan on to deaden the sound, no idea why we've suddenly become a nightime hotspot!

Got packed this morning for a couple of days in B'rum to see DD & for DH's work. We potter along in the car listening to The Navy Lark cds, good job the kids have all grown up!

Hope I have remembered everything, I usually forget something vital - last time it was a hairbrush.

Have a great day x

Morning all,

eBay listing here as well, glitterkitty oh to be thirty again:D
That sounds like a wonderful pressie.
We went for a meal with our son and gf last night. The food was lovely but oh my so pretentious, started with a well known footballer being thrown out of the bar for fighting:eek: why is it some people feel the more money they've got the louder they have to shout, and so much Botox and fake boobs, not our scene at all. Glad we didn't pay for it. As my husband pointed out most of the girls looked like they could do with a beef pudding:rotfl:
But it was enjoyable just spending time with my son and gf.
When we returned ds3 had 5 or 6 friends around eating Chinese food and listening to music. I have to say though when we went to bed and asked them to keep the noise down I never heard a thing, not even them leaving, they are a nice bunch of kids.
Then I opened the spare room door and found my eldest girl in bed. Her little one has gone off on his hols with his daddy this week. She'd come home to catch up with some friends at our local and decided it was easier to stay here. Scared me to death. I don't know what they would do if we ever down sized.
I'm planning on a really restful day today. I need to put away some washing but otherwise going to take it easy and watch a movie. It will be something very quick and easy for tea.
Have a good day all x

Morning :hello:

I didn't get to paint the ceiling yesterday, people seemed to be in and out of the shower all day long. I'd emptied the bathroom so they had to keep going into our room to fetch toothpaste, shower gel, etc. :D Two trus have gone out already, just waiting for the third one to go out then I can get on with it.

I've been trying to pinpoint what's causing my dermatitis, it seems to be the tomato plants. I can't wear gardening gloves when I'm in the greenhouse, they're too loose so rubber gloves it is :D

Morning,

no smileys. NAR will be gutted. ;-) Ha ha seems like they can be added manually though. :-)

Just had me a shower and cleaned up after the dogs (in reverse order I might add :-s). Talking about dogs, Lucy dog seems to have hurt her back. She can walk down the stairs/steps but not up them. She aint half a bad weight to lug up and down steps as well. :-( Both dogs go through periods of pulling muscles I'm just glad they aren't any bigger as I struggle with Lucy dog as it is.

Not much planned for today. Hubby and son aren't at work today. Hubby refused to work for time and a half on a Sunday and he's disappeared down the shed. Ive lost him now till tonight. :-D

Need to pop up B&Q sometime to get a roll of strimmer line as hes (note how I said HES) run out. I found a £10 B&Q voucher in the back of my desk drawer. He can use that to pay for it.

Roast chicken for dinner today. The cats are going to thank me for that later. :-@

Have a good day all.

Hello all!
Been reading but not posting for a few days, just feeling "scunnered" with everything this week! My brother got a deal for a taster menu for an indian restaurant in town, so took me out for dinner last night, was lovely at the time but have montezumas revenge now!!!!!
Will need to find something for dinner, have some nice Italian sausages so will maybe casserole them with beans and veg.
Right, better get a move on, have a good day all!
RIP Iain
