Cutting down Doors - Proportion

Well, to keep you all up-to-date.
The doors have been cut and hung and are looking lovely. However, time will tell if they all fall apart. I guess on my head be it (as I told the carpenter).
Another quick (!) question, and you're all probably thinking that this is the least of her problems, but... at the mo I've rubbed in 'light oak' coloured wood dye, do you think I need to apply any protective coat as well? I want a dull, matt look.0
