I bet garages that actually house cars are in the vast minority , you've probably just described exactly what over 1/2 the population use theirs for today:D:D

I bet 90% of garages have a lawn mower, a few bikes, boxes of junk, paint pots and random lengths of wood.

those 90% are wasted spaces that could be used like mine was, but the owners either - dont care, dont realise how much they can do with the space for little outlay, or dont need/want the space.

We have 2 bike hangers in the roof void of our double garage so the bike hang above everything else. We then have heavy duty tall storage units along one side wall and part way across the back wall. We have a snap-on tool chest thing for all the hand tools and bits and bobs. We keep one side clear so that a car can go in there if necessary. There's a fridge freezer in there just for booze, ice cubes and icecream. Everything that can go on shelves is on the shelves. Spare dining chairs and the motorbike are the only things allowed on the floor on the shelved side.

    Works well for us.

  • With plywood boxes, I installed shelves for sports equipments, tools and paints. In addition, I installed some lightweight ceiling storage. I seeked the help of Garage organizers, Garage Living in Ontario to install DIY hanging bike rack. Altogether now my garage looks more organized than before.
